BELTED SCARF

Feb 26, 2015

I am officially over this winter weather and I am ready for the sun. Winter has got me in a rut and all of my clothes are all of a sudden SO boring to me. With last week’s New York Fashion Week, I have recently been re-inspired by some of the items I have had in my closet for years. Some of the best inspiration for me comes from the runway shows, but also the street fashion of fellow bloggers and fashion lovers just like me. Given, they have the money and resources for designer brands and fashion show access, but there's no reason for me not to make best with I got. Maybe one day I will be writing a post about my fashion week experience. AH! How awesome would that be?! For now I will continue to be envious.

For this style post, I was inspired by specifically the street style of Fashion Week. Style.com is a great resource to keep updated with the fashion shows and also catch a glimpse of Tommy Ton's (a well-known Fashion Photographer) street style photography. I spent most of fashion week watching the shows live in between classes on my laptop. The trend that I am imitating in this outfit is the belted scarf. Most of us by now all have a skinny belt and scarf as a staple in their winter wardrobes so this look should be something very attainable for most people to imitate.

I chose my grey plaid scarf from Loft and a black skinny belt I got years ago from Target. I continue to be in love with all neutrals so I kept this inspiration going by pairing the belt and scarf with my cream sweater and grey distressed jeans. I completed the outfit with my new black wedges from H&M that heightens the length of the outfit and creates a very elongated look.

Since I don't have classes on Friday's, I am starting my weekend tonight. I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing weekend.

LOVE + JUMPSUITS

Feb 14, 2015

Love is in the air. It's officially Valentine's day. It can be a very bitter sweet holiday, but this year I am learning to love it. Valentine's Day doesn't have to be about a significant other, but about all those people in your life that matter the most. I am truly blessed to have people who love me and encourage me. For those of you lucky ducks going out with your loved ones, here's a Valentine's inspired outfit for the perfect romantic date. And for those of you who aren't, it's a great outfit for a date night or even a girls night out.

I found this jumper on the clearance rack at Loft. It was originally over $100, but I got it for an additional 60% the clearance price. It only ended up being around $30 bucks, which is a steal to me!  Loft always has great sales on their clearance. Unlike most stores, their clearance items can be relatively new items to the store and are great finds.

Since this jumpsuit is unique in itself, I kept it simple with a red lip and ankle strap wedged heels. Going out on the town? Pair your jumpsuit with a leather jacket or blazer and a cheetah print clutch for fun. Check out these links to other really cute jumpsuits perfect for a date night out: Loft, H&M, Forever21,  and ASOS

Happy Valentine's Day Loves <3

SUNDAY FAVORITES

Feb 8, 2015

I haven't done a Sunday Favorites in a long time so I figured why not today? Today's high was 40 degrees and although this doesn't seem amazing, it is quite of a bit nicer than the weather we have been experiencing. The slightly warmer weather has me dreaming of spring break and summer fashion. Here are some of the top things I have been craving lately for the transition into spring.

1. Checkered Black Bag - This windowpane pattern has been trending in the fashion world. It's a clean and classic look to a plaid alternative. This bag is simple, chic, and most importantly BIG. I love a good big bag that I can stuff all my odds and ends in during the day. It is also sleek and basic enough to go with any outfit.

2. The Wrap Coat - I'm obsessed with this trend. I've been loving all things oversized and wrapped lately. It looks sophisticated with a pair of heels and comfortable for an everyday look.

3. Gold Rock Layered Necklace - Simple necklaces are always a great add on to any outfit. I particularly like this layered necklace because of the edgy rock pendants. The necklace can add a simple and cute detail to pretty much any outfit.

4. Black Slip-On Vans - I really like these slip-on's for transitioning from the winter weather into spring. They are comfortable like tennis shoes but are chic like flats. They can go with pretty much any outfit and are a great alternative to riding boots that can sometimes be over-used during the winter months.

5. Felt Black Fedora - I like this fedora because it is a little floppy, but still structured. I use to think these hats were only for the summer, but I have recently have fallen in love with the easy-going look of this hat in the winter.

Have a happy and relaxed rest of your Sunday (:
