This week I had the privilege of collaborating with Paige Allison.

Paige lives in Portland, Oregon and studies Fashion Merchandising in Central Washington. Her style is inspired by the bohemian thrifted style from Portland and also a mix of grunge and hipster from her weekend travels to Seattle.

Along with her love for fashion Paige is also a total foodie, a frequent coffee connoisseur, and lover of Thai food. She believes in her love for the rain, that every occasion is an excuse to dress up, and keepin’ it rad.

I met Paige in one of my fashion classes where we quickly bonded over our love for travel, blogging, and style. Living in Italy this semester we both shared the mutual love for Italian street style and were inspired by European fashion from our travels.

Here is our take on some of our favorite trends since we've been abroad.

Casual Oxfords.
For my first look I wore a turtleneck knit dress with sheer panty hose, oxfords, and a distressed denim jacket. I love this look for two major reasons; its a comfortable chic look and it also shows off my favorite color to wear - black. Italian fashionistas have mastered comfort and style to a "T". So much so that Adidas running shoes are almost as fashionable to wear here as a new pair of Prada heels. Typically, my first instinct would've been to pair this dress with heels, but inspired by the casual chic vibes of the street style in Italy, I switched my heels for oxfords (a must-wear here) and a casual distressed denim jacket. I completed the look with edgy all-black circle rimmed sunnies for a comfortable and casual Italian inspired look.

Skirts & Scarves.
Paige also nailed the casual chicness of Italian fashion for this look. Pairing dressy items like her skirt, panty hose, and heels with her scarf made the look perfect for everyday. All black is super popular in Italy, but Paige added her twist on the style by adding a subtle pop of color with her maroon scarf. Her sunnies complete the look for a cool-girl vibe and effortless chicness.

Ponchos and oversized scarves are very popular in Italy and also all over Europe. The bigger the better. You can find ponchos like the one I am wearing in almost every color from the street venders around Florence. I was very tempted to buy one of each. Inspired by this look I paired the poncho with my denim top and denim jeans. I wore plain black booties and silver fringe necklace to complete the look. The poncho look can also be attained by wrapping an oversized scarf around the shoulders.

Layers are both practical and chic. Paige layered her button up with a crew sweater for a collegiate, but also casual look. She paired the top with distressed denim and leather booties, adding Italian style to a classic look. This trend is great for any type of style because it can be preppy, chic, and even sometimes grunge. I've seen a lot of Italian fashion play with this idea of layers and has made me revisit this classic trend.

I had so much fun working with Paige for this collaboration. We share a lot of the same style inspirations and a love for all things Italy. I'm so happy I had the chance to meet Paige over this semester. I wish her the best as she finishes out her Fashion Marketing and Merchandising Certificate at Lorenzo De Medici the rest of the school year. If only I could be here for another semester with her!
